Maintaining accurate and synchronized product data across platforms is one of the most critical challenges in product data management.  Our product data team noticed recurring discrepancies between the Plieger product database and the 2ba reference platform, especially during data uploads to the PIM (Product Information Management) system.

To address this, the Plieger Nepal team developed the 2ba Review Application (2baApi V2), an automation tool designed to cross-check ETIM feature values between internal files and 2ba data. This innovation helps ensure consistency, reliability, and compliance with the ETIM standard, saving hours of manual verification time.

The Challenge: Manual Cross-Checking and Data Inconsistencies

Before introducing the application, teams relied on manual verification to compare product feature values with those listed on the 2ba website. This process involved searching products one by one, comparing attributes, and updating discrepancies, a task that was both tedious and error prone.

The main challenges included:

• Time-consuming manual checks for thousands of products.
• Data mismatches caused by updates in 2ba after internal work was completed.
• Formatting differences in Manufacturer IDs between systems.
• Missed or incomplete comparisons when products were not listed on 2ba.

The result was a complex and repetitive workflow that increased the likelihood of data inconsistencies in the PIM upload stage.

The Solution: Introducing the 2ba Review Application

The 2ba Review Application automates the process of comparing product data between internal Excel sheets and the 2ba reference database. It extracts ETIM feature values directly from the 2ba website using each product’s Manufacturer ID and highlights differences for review. 

What the App Does:

• Automatically retrieves ETIM feature values from 2ba for each listed product.
• Compares 2ba data with the internal file.
• Displays differences in a structured Excel output for quick correction.
• Flags products that could not be checked or contain request errors.
• Allows the user to review and replace incorrect or outdated values before upload to the PIM system.

Key Features

• Automated Data Extraction: Pulls live data from 2ba based on Manufacturer ID.
• Comparison Engine: Highlights mismatch in feature codes and values.
• True/False Verification Column: Clearly indicates which items were successfully checked with 2ba.
• Error Reporting: Lists request errors and unprocessed products for manual follow-up.
• Scalability: Can process up to 1,000 articles per run, with looping support for larger datasets.

How We Built It

The application was developed by the Plieger Nepal team in collaboration with the data management group, focusing on precision and ease of use. The tool connects directly to the 2ba platform through its API, retrieves real-time feature values, and structures the comparison results in a clean Excel interface.

Special attention was given to:

• Handling data format mismatches between 2ba and the PIM system.
• Managing API request errors with automated error reporting.
• Providing step-by-step output sheets to guide users through validation.

The process now allows users to check large volumes of products efficiently, ensuring all values align with ETIM standards before uploading to PIM.
